INTERIOR
A callback to the original Toyota MR2 interior, the GR2 takes simple, blocky shapes of the original interior and adapts it into a retro futuristic interior design.

A perfect blend of software and hardware, a touch screen with physical dials within the screen for volume and temperature control

The rear of the MR2 continues with the blocky nature, with a black shroud connecting the taillights
Intake vents parallel to bodylines of the MR2, with beveled edges, and a c pillar dropping into the body at a steep angle

The GR2 continues this tradition, with a connected rectangular lightbar and black accent piece and aggressive, steep body lines, and vents following the body
SIDE
The classic wedge synonymous with sports cars, triangular guide lines to the wheel arches, and a trapezoid top sitting against the body
Streamlining the MR2 into the GR2. The key features, such as the vent and the body lines remain, however they get broken up, and utilizes clashing black paint in order to visualize the airflow from the front vent towards the back, ending in the taillight

A signature of the 80s, pop-up headlights became lost to time when regulations and aerodynamics forced them to be retired. However, recent trends shows a resurgence of appeal of the pop-up headlights, and Mazda’s Speed concept proves the world wants them back
GR2 implements a new spin to the popup headlight, having the cover slide open for the laser precision Headlights
POWERTRAIN
Powering the GR2 is the 3JZ GTT engine, successor to the infamous 2JZ GTE, Toyota’s legendary turbocharged inline 6 found in the 4th gen Toyota Supra
An odd choice of an engine, given the MR2 came with a turbo 4 cylinder, however given Toyota’s current lineup of GR performance cars, and the regulations regarding noise and pollution, placing the GR2 above the supra would require something bigger than a 4 cylinder, and what better than the return of a legend
